-

MANILA -- The Department of Labor and Employment (Dole)-National Capital Region (NCR) ordered Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC) and Perf Restaurant or Burger King to regularize more than 7,000 workers.

Dole-NCR Director Henry John Jalbuena also directed the JFC to refund illegally collected payments amounting to a total of P19.5 million.

In a statement, Jalbuena said inspections of the popular food chains will continue under the government's relentless campaign to stop illegal work contractualization.

JFC is set to regularize 6,482 workers deployed by its two contractors.

Burger King was also directed to regularize 704 workers deployed by its three contractors.

Late last year, the JFC was also ordered to regularize around 500 workers in its nine branches in Mimaropa region. The labor office found out that the said branches are practicing labor-only contracting.

Aside from the regularization of more than 6,000 JFC employees, the food chain giant was also ordered to refund P15,432,305 for Coop Share, Coop Christmas Party Paluwagan Fund, and Coop Savings Fund. The money was illegally collected from 426 employees.

Five of its contractors were ordered to refund P4,137,158.15 to 412 affected workers from unlawful wage deductions, bonds, donations, shares and other illegal payment collections.

Among the liable contractors are Citiwide Basic Commodities and Manpower Services Inc. with total financial obligation of P1,853,578 to 40 workers; Generation One Resource Service and Multi-Purpose Cooperative, P1,180,363.15 to 287 employees; Integral Care Formation Service Cooperative, P440,300 to 24 workers; Toptrend Service Corporation, P464,012 for 47 workers; and MetroGuards Security Agency Corporation for P199,905 to 19 workers.
