18th Iyas fellows named
THE 18th Iyas La Salle National Writers’ Workshop of the University of St. La Salle, Bacolod City, has selected 15 Fellows for April 22-28, 2018.
For poetry: (Hiligaynon) Julian P. Tuyo; (Cebuano) Mildred Eran Garcia; (Filipino) Paterno B. Baloloy, Jr., Rogene A. Gonzales and John Revo Ocampo; and (English) Corina Marie B. Arenas, Anthony B. Capirayan, George G. Deoso, and Hezron G. Pios. For short story: (Cebuano) Georgene Rhena P. Quilaton-Tambiga; (Filipino) Rya Celine Ducusin; and (English) Angela Raine M. Delmoro. For drama: (Hiligaynon) Kym Lance Gador Gelvero; (Cebuano) Angelito G. Nambatac Jr.; and (Filipino) Alexander Genesis C. Dungca.
The workshop features a tour to Bago City and the USLS Dolphin Project, poetry and prose readings with the Bacolod Santermo Writers and Artists, a provocation lecture by ICSC Executive Director Red Constantino, and the soft book launch of Sustaining the Archipelago: Anthology of Philippine Ecopoetry (UST Publishing House), edited by Rina Garcia-Chua.
Workshop Director is Dr. Marjorie Evasco. Project Director is Atty. Raymundo Pandan, Jr. In the panel are Grace Monte de Ramos-Arcellana, Susan Lara, Mario Mendez, Dr. John Iremil Teodoro, and Dr. Ronald Baytan, Director of Bienvenido N. Santos Creative Writing Center of De La Salle University-Manila.
The Iyas National Writers’ Workshop is co-sponsored by the Bienvenido N. Santos Creative Writing Center of De La Salle University, the Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities, and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
