-

A film festival that aims to promote environmental sustainability and environmental education and awareness returns to SM Supermalls in Davao starting this month. The Green Film Festival (GFF) kicks off in Davao City on April 10, 8 AM in SM Lanang Premier’s Cinema 2. This festival is a joint initiative of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB), SM Cares and the SM Cinemas, in cooperation with the Department of Education and Commission on Higher Education.

GFF was launched last February 13 at the SM North Edsa, Quezon City and will continue in SM malls nationwide on April 10, June 19, August 14 and October 9.

The materials to be shown during the Green Film Festival will include documentaries, short films and videos from DENR and its various bureaus, offices and attached agencies. Various environmental topics such as climate change mitigation and adaptation, biodiversity conservation, air and water pollution prevention, solid waste management, sustainable and eco-friendly schools will also be featured through other shorts.

These materials aim not only showcase the beauty of our planet but also teach the value of preserving our environment and natural resources.

The Green Film Festival is one of the many initiatives of the DENR-EMB, in compliance to Republic Act 9512 or the National Environmental Awareness and Education Act of 2008, which is now on its 10th year enactment.

(GFF happens on April 10 and June 19 in SM Lanang Premier; and August 14 and October 9 in SM City Davao. For inquiries and bulk seating reservations for schools, please call 285-0943 for Lanang and 297-6998 for Ecoland)
