Community forum staged after NPA arson attack

-

A PEACE and Security Forum was staged after the arson incident held April 6 in Barangay Malagos, Baguio District in Davao City.

Third Infantry Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Raymund Lachica, commander of the 3rd IB, said that the activity aims to strengthen their community engagement with concerned stakeholders who are vulnerable rebel attacks.

The event was attended by around 70 persons composed of security officers of vital installations, project managers and engineers of flagship projects, selected barangay chairpersons, chief of Police of various Police Stations within the unit’s area and other stakeholders.

“Security is everybody’s concern. These burning incidents likewise showed the CNT’s deceptive posture on peace by launching violent attacks on one hand while showing fake interest on peace talks on the other. An enabling environment for peace can never be created with this deceptive behavior,” Lachica said.

The participants signified their interest to collaborate with the authorities to counter atrocities that might hamper the ongoing construction of government projects especially in the outskirts area.

“This undertaking gained positive response from the security sector of the private firms and concerned individuals who have pledged their stronger commitment in maintaining a peaceful environment and geared up for further development in the battalion’s operational jurisdiction,” Lachica said.
