You are a stranger to me; I, a stranger to you. I have known you for only a month, and I guess that must have been the breeding ground for my presumptions about you. Allow me to make amends. You see, I thought you were older. I did not base that observation on your appearance; rather, what gave me clues was the experiences that you had.

Last Saturday, you said that you were sick because you were exhausted. You travelled to Davao City after visiting the marshes of Agusan and visiting people which is required by your profession. I admired your persistence. Davao City is a long way from Agusan, but your studies must be on the top of your priorities; so you came, even if you were tired. That is a level of maturity that I admit I do not possess.

Speaking of your profession, it surprised me that you were a regular government employee. I had judged you to be around twenty five years old, and that was still too young to be offered an item. But then, when I learned of your sacrifices, I thought that you deserve that position. You are very hardworking. Yet again, that is a trait that I do not possess.

You are also very brave. You have told me of the unseen ghosts lurking in your office. If I was in your position, I would have gone running for the hills. You’re still working, though. You don’t let the supernatural entities faze you; you do not let the crying children or the shadows drive you away. Yes, your bravery is a quality that I do not have.

You are strong. You told me of a failed relationship; one that still haunts you today. I understand your pain. I know how deep these scars can go and how these scars can keep hurting for the rest of our lives. You told me of how that heartbreak weakened you; yet here you are, stronger than ever. You’re stronger than me, Ryan.

When I learned that we are of the same age, I was truly awestruck. Your experiences have been far more superior and far more difficult than mine. I thank you for sharing your life, Ryan. Your twenty three years have resulted in great experiences, and you deserve everything that you have.
