Al-ag is OIC

DAVAO City Councilor Bernard Al-ag will sit as acting mayor from March 9-12 as Davao City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio joined the party of President Rodrigo R. Duterte in Hainan, China to attend the Boao Forum for Asia.

Duterte-Carpio issued a memoradum on April 5, 2018 directing Al-ag to temporaril­y assume the duties and responsibi­lities of the mayor while she is on an official travel.

On April 6, 2018, Al-ag also designated Davao City Councilor Al Ryan S. Alejandre as acting vice mayor to perform the functions of the vice mayor on the said dates.

The President is in China to have a bilateral meeting with his Chinese counterpar­t Xi Jinping and attend the BFA Asia Annual Conference 2018.

Establishe­d on February 27, 2001, the Boao Forum for Asia is a nongovernm­ent and non-profit internatio­nal organizati­on that promotes and strengthen­s economic exchanges, interactio­n and cooperatio­n within the region, as well as between the region and other parts of the world. It also provides high-level venue for dialogue between leaders from government, private enterprise, academia and other juridical associatio­ns to discuss, exchange and develop ideas in the scope of economic, social,

environmen­tal and related issues.

BFA is composed of representa­tives from 29 countries, namely, the Commonweal­th of Australia, the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, the Kingdom of Cambodia, the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of India, the Republic of Indonesia, Japan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Mongolia, the Union of Myanmar (the Republic of the Union of Myanmar), the Kingdom of Nepal (the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal), the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of the Philippine­s, the Republic of Korea, the Republic of Singapore, the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Kingdom of Thailand, Turkmenist­an, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, the State of Israel, New Zealand, and the Republic of Maldives.
