TAGUM CITY—Shared responsibility is what the local government of Tagum tries to instill on its constituents. Thus, what better way to demonstrate this idea is to give them actual responsibilities?

Last Wednesday, April 4, 2018, Mayor Allan L. Rellon led in the ceremonial turnover of buildings and structures for transfer without cost. Among the beneficiaries are the Davao del Norte Provincial Police Station, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and all of the 23 barangays of the city.

Transfer without cost means that the beneficiaries don’t have to pay the local government any amount for the acquisition of the said buildings and structures. However, upon receiving the ownership, they have to assume the maintenance of the properties.

Previously owned by the local government, these buildings are now fully-owned by the recipients.

The provincial PNP station received Quarter Barracks Multi-Purpose Phase 2, and Multi-Purpose Gym while the BJMP added to its owned facilities a Multi-Purpose building. The 23 barangays are given ownership to various buildings and structures such as Day Care Centers, MultiPurpose Halls, Barangay Halls, Pavements, and many more.

Rellon clarified that the city will still help the beneficiaries in any way that it can regarding the maintenance of the properties. He added that whatever the city does go back to the community through the barangays, after all.

Mayor also revealed that vehicles are the next properties that the city will transfer without cost in the coming months. This is again to practice the co-ownership attitude which would enhance the camaraderie among public servants.
