6 face raps for last 2

SIX people are facing charges before the court after they were arrested for playing illegal numbers game in separate incidents in the Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos), Davao del Norte province.

Facing charges for violation of the Republic Act 9287 or The Penalties for Illegal Numbers Games are Analie Relatado, April Cabatuna, Elma Saraum, Jonalyn Bacatan, Jojie Ronda and Ulyden Tigualo.

In a record obtained from the Police Regional Office (PRO) in Davao Region, the suspects were caught in the act facilitating and/or soliciting bets for the game “Last Two” digits.

‘Last Two” is a game based on the last two digit numbers in the lotto draw of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO). According to authorities, playing Last Two is illegal.

Police said the five suspects were nabbed in Barangay Peñaplata in Samal District, while one was arrested in Barangay Mambago, Babak. Recovered from them were various illegal gambling paraphernalia.

The suspects were brought to Igacos Police Station for record and proper disposition. They were also brought to the prosecution office on Wednesday for inquest proceedings.

Under Section 4 of the Republic Act 9287, possession of any gambling paraphernalia and other materials used in the illegal numbers game is deemed prima facie evidence of an illegal gambling act.
