Davao cage teams eliminated

TAGBILARAN City, Province of Bohol – As the Davao Region boys and men's basketball teams were eliminated, defending champion men’s baseball team and men’s volleyball team continues their quest for title in the ongoing National Private School Athletic Associatio­n (Prisaa) Games 2018 here.

The baseball team, handled by coach Ryan Sarabia, survived a thrilling match against Bicol Region, 9-8, in the semifinals to keep their grand slam bid alive.

Patricia Jhoy Villejo, Honet Albaña and Einstein Villanueva clinched golds.

Villejo won the women’s heavyweigh­t division title while Albaña governed the women’s flyweight division and Villanueva topped the men’s bantamweig­ht.

The silvers were courtesy of Sienna Abug (women’s middle weight) and Shyla Jesuro (women’s lightweigh­t) while Kleo Ferriols (women’s featherwei­ght), Justin Espiritu (men’s welterweig­ht), are going for a grandslam!), kanusa pa ba namo kuhaon? The Davao baseball team seared their way to the finals unbeaten.

Davao men's spikers, meanwhile, entered the semifinals after beating Northern Mindanao Region, 25-17, 26-28, 32-30, 25-20.

Davao played against the squad from Cagayan de Oro with injured players Cgerian Caliao (men’s flyweight) , Russel John Dioresma (men’s featherwei­ght), Bijan Tayongtong (men’s middle weight), Gibgib Estoque (men’s heavyweigh­t) and Joebeth Onato (men’s welterweig­ht) salvaged a bronze apiece.

Dabawenyo tanker Kierl Suazo yesterday captured another gold in men’s 200m individual medley event of the swimming competitio­n that came to a close at the Victoriano B. Tirol Jr. Sports Complex.

Christel Grace Estares, Elena Gabrielle Fernandez, Syntyche Espiritu and Shanine Castillo settled for bronze in girls 4x50 medley relay. Kris Steven Avila and Jan Ashley Jacob.

Avila had the right area of his head stitched after it bumped in toJacob’s mouth. Jacob also had his lip stitched in a hospital here.

“Gigamit nalang jud nako tung mga injured nako na players kay wala na koy choice. Naa man sad advice na pwede sila mag dula (I had no choice but use my injured players. I was advised that they could play),” Vanta said.
