STUCK IN BUTUAN?

Here’s where to please your tummies

- BY SEAN BELEN, FSUU INTERN

Located in the heart of Caraga Region, Butuan City is well-known as the timber city of the south. For people who have been frequenting in the area though, it is also home to besttasting dishes that are sure to tickle a foodie’s palate.

The city offers a wide array of selection for every different taste. Down from Italian pizza to classic Pinoy boneless lechon, there is always somewhere you can eat here.

My personal favorite food places in Butuan are Pit Stop Cafe and 28 Gastro Bar.

Pit Stop Cafe is just along the J.C. Aquino highway. The restaurant offers American cuisine. The design and vibe of the place is also quite American. They are known for their mouth-watering buffalo chicken wings, which are priced at 350php per kilo.

The buffalo chicken wings have two different flavors. If you want that glazed, savory sweet style, you can go for the barbeque flavor and if you want that crispy spicy chicken you can go for spicy, which has three levels. It is perfect for family’s and for your barkada’s chicken and beer night out!

Meanwhile, 28 Gastro Bar is just a minute walk away from the first restaurant. It has a Zen aesthetic with their neutral tones and earth color interior.

What really keeps me going back to this place is their Bagnet. A decent size of fried pork that is crispy and delicious paired with their unlimited bagoong rice with a lettuce salad on the side is such a treat.

After eating the crispy Bagnet, you can have your round two and devour their savory boat of Nachos. Their Nachos is topped with mustard, mayonaise, cheese, ground meat, and my favorite jalapeño. The taste really lingers on your tongue.

The Bagnet is fairly priced at P195 and the big serving of Nachos is priced at P175.

If you chance a visit to my city, these are the places you might want to go to for a definite taste of Butuan.
