Minda bizmen eyed to join trade expo in Indonesia

MINDANAO-BASED businessme­n are eyed to join the 33rd Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) in Tangerang, Indonesia on October 24 to 28, the Indonesian Consulate in Davao City said.

Indonesian Consul General Berlian Napitupulu said Tuesday, April 24, annually they are bringing Mindanaon businessme­n to participat­e in the expo.

“This year, we are hoping to bring more wholesaler­s, business owners so that the business will last,” he said in a media briefing on Indonesian culture, tourism, and economic promotion at the Consulate General Republic of Indonesia in Ecoland on Tuesday.

TEI, according to the press briefer given to media, is an internatio­nal business matching-focused tradeshow that is designed to boost export product growth and export market expansion. It is considered one of the biggest business-tobusiness export product exhibition­s in Asia.

Napitupulu shared that they will be inviting participan­ts from Davao. Mindanao participan­ts, he said, have yet to confirm attendance.

In the past years, the consul general said that more than 20 Mindanao businessme­n participat­ed in the expo mostly from Butuan, Gensan and Zamboanga.

For this year, the Indonesian-led expo is centered on the theme: Creating products for global opportunit­ies.

TEI organizers are targeting 1,110 exhibitors, 28,000 visitors from 125 countries and $1.5 billion worth of transactio­ns. In the previous year, TEI gathered $1.41 billion total transactio­n value with coal, coffee, essential oil, food and beverage, and palm oil as the top products.

“Aside from this trade mission and expo, I want all the potential businessme­n who wish to invest in Indonesia to not hesitate to connect with us, we can assist them, organize business matching, arrange site visits. In Indonesia, I am also encouragin­g them to do business here,” Napitupulu said.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Consulate here is organizing anew the Indonesian Food and Beverage Expo slated on June 29 to July 1 at the Abreeza Ayala Mall.

“We are expecting 30 Indonesian exhibitors to join the expo, some big companies already committed. This is our second expo here, this year will be bigger,” he said adding that they invited Davao City Mayor Sara DuterteCar­pio to open the expo.
