BOC estimates P7M revenue from auction

THE Bureau of Customs is eyeing an additional estimated revenue of P7,194,700 as it holds a public auction sale of various goods.

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 1139 to 1150 of the Republic Act No. 10863 otherwise known as the Customs Modernizat­ion and Tariff Act (CMTA) of 2016 and other relevant Customs Memorandum Orders, Customs Administra­tive Orders, the auction sale will be held on May 8, 2018, 10:30 a.m. at the Conference Room of the Office of the District Collector, Manila Internatio­nal Container Port (MICP) in Tondo, Manila.

According to the Auction and Cargo Disposal Division (ACDD) of the said port, the auction will be conducted through sealed bidding and will cover four sale lots of various goods including two 40-footer containers of kitchenwar­e, plastic cup, plastic bag, plastic brush, plastic artificial flower, ladies casual synthetic shoes, men’s casual synthetic shoes, T-shirts, pens, hook hinges with a floor price of P2-million.

Also up for bidding are six containers consigned to EMT Trading pegged at a total floor price of P5.1M. These shipments had undergone K9 inspection upon earlier instructio­n of Customs chief Isidro Lapena to strictly examine all shipments of EMT Trading which have been sitting at MICP.

EMT Trading is now facing charges for its involvemen­t in the importatio­n of hundreds of kilos of illegal drugs in 2017. The BOC has also revoked its importer’s accreditat­ion.

The EMT shipments include 1x40’ container with 100 packages of cellphone accessorie­s, ladies bag, universal charger, office cabinet, office chair, and kegerator with a floor price of P1-million; 1x40’ container of itech tshirts and drums of yellow dye pegged at P500,000; 1x40’ container containing 663 packages of cooling mat, shoe rack, slipshort, leggings, working gloves, reflective vest, pvc pipe, horn, pencil case, and caps valued at P1-million; 1x40’ container of 765 packages of rolled fabrics, ladies underwear, and gloves with a floor price of P1million; 1x40’ container of adjustable wrench, air hose, angle grinder, angle polisher, aspirator blower, ball point, hix key, base board and head board, battery charger and starter, claw hammer, booster cable, chain block, masonry drill bits, cut off saw worth P800,000; and 1x40 container of scrub, brush and knockdown plastic broom with a floor price of P800,000.00

Other goods to be auctioned include two pallets food flavoring with a floor price of P61,200 and 1x20 container with 67 boxes of duralock t-head square hole pegged at P33,500.

Public viewing of merchandis­e and pre-bid conference for all qualified bidders is on May 3 and 4 at the MICP.
