Dusit luxury complex in Davao to offer 300 more units for tourists and residents by Q1 2019
The Davao City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) confirmed in January that 2017 tourist arrivals had surpassed the 2 million mark, a significant increase from 2016’s 1.864 million arrivals. In a show of optimism, CTOO head Generose Tecson pegged the 2018 target at 2.2 million tourist arrivals which she announced at last April’s launch of Visit Davao Summer Festival was already achieved. With tourism in Davao clearly on an upswing, the number of visitors that can be accommodated will depend on the capacity hotel accommodations available in the city.
This projected steady influx of tourists bodes well for property developer Torre Lorenzo Development Corporation (TLDC), as does the healthy number of inquiries into Davao as a meeting and convention location. This means that Dusit Thani Residence Davao and dusitD2 Davao Hotel, both scheduled to be operational by the first quarter of 2019, will be welcome additions to the hospitality landscape in the city.
“Ten years ago, we at Torre Lorenzo recognized favorable conditions for investment in Davao City as seen in the steady economic, industrial and tourism growth and consequent rise in demand for higher standards of living. A few years later, we invested in developing in an upmarket complex off JP Laurel in Lanang, Davao City. Today that complex houses the Dusit Thani Residence Davao and dusitD2 Davao Hotel which will be operational by the first quarter of 2019,” explains TLDC CEO and President Tomas Lorenzo.
When the Dusit Thani Residence Davao and dusitD2 Davao Hotel open for business in the first quarter of 2019, they will be the first internationally-branded mixed-use residence and hotel development as well as the first luxury accommodation in the heart of Davao City. The Dusit Thani Residence Davao will also be the first Dusit-branded residence in Southeast Asia. The developments will offer 174 additional residential units and 120 more hotel rooms, each with indulgent views of the city. The TLDC developments, which are being completed in partnership with Dusit International, promise to blend work and leisure seamlessly with the combination of the finest amenities and worldrenowned exceptional service that is distinctly Dusit.
Also in the pipeline for completion is the Dusit Thani Hotel at Lubi Plantation, a fivestar luxury resort located on 36 hectares of an 87-hectare masterplanned island resort named Lubi Plantation that sits within a marine conservation site. The island is 30 minutes by speedboat from the Dusit complex on the mainland, and unit owners of the Residences will receive privileges at the island resort.
For locals and visitors to Davao City, The Beach Club at Lubi Plantation is already operational and open to day visitors. Guests at the beach club can already enjoy water sports activities, the infinity pool, children’s playground, a limited number of day rooms, an event hall, and a restaurant offering Filipino and continental fare. Soon to be completed are a tennis court, dive center, game arcade, and a chapel for those planning destination weddings and special events.
The three projects complement TLDC’s growing portfolio of real estate developments that anticipate the needs of future communities in emerging urban centers.
“We find that one of the drivers of our success is the fact that our properties create longerterm value for our stakeholders,” explains Tomas Lorenzo. “We invite prospective investors to have a look at the opportunities that our Dusit Thani Residence Davao presents.”
