Sara denies endorsing barangay candidates
DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio denied allegations that she is endorsing barangay officials after some campaign posters showed her in photos with some candidates.
She also dismissed allegations that her political party Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod has also endorsed any candidate in the barangay elections. Duterte-Carpio said there are members of the party who are running for barangay position, but the party has not endorsed any. The same with Hugpong ng Pagbabago.
"Sa Hugpong ng Pagbabago wala mi giindorse nga candidates (We don't endorse candidates). We are aware that there is a law which prohibits partisan this coming election although maraming mga members from Hupong
sa Tawong Lungsod who ran for barangay positions. They have been members of the party when the party started. Madami sila," she said.
She encouraged anyone who has complaints to step forward and report what they know to her office.
“Wala man nako sila giingnan nga gamiton, wala pod nako sila gipugngan nga dili gamiton ang picture kay dili naman gud na macontrol ng ing-ana (I never told them to use their photos with me because that can't be controlled). Kung merong tao na feel na kailangan nila, they should file a complaint," she added.
The mayor, along with her husband Lawyer Manases Carpio, cast her vote around 10 a.m. yesterday at her polling precinct at Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School in Matina Crossing, Davao City. It only took her about few minutes to complete the voting process. She commended the electoral boards for the swift procedure.
“Okay naman walang problema sa pagboto. Mabilis lang and very efficient ang mga teachers,” she said.
She also said that based on reports from security forces, everything was under control and no untoward incident was reported related to election.
“As of 9 a.m., the latest situation report coming from the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), walay (no) incidents so far in all the polling places in Davao City,” she said. JCR
