Drug pusher faces raps

CHARGES were filed before the City Prosecution Offce in Panabo on Thursday against an alleged drug pusher who was nabbed in a drug-bust operation in Barangay Cagangohan, Panabo City on May 16.

Facing charges for violation of the Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as The Comprehensive Dangerous Act, is Jonel Malatamban Huerbana, a newly identified drug personality, 28, of Barangay Poblacion.

Members of the Panabo City Police Station brought the suspect before the prosecution office on Thursday morning for the inquest proceedings.

Huerba was found in possession one gray sling bag that contained a coin purse with six plastic sachets of suspected shabu, one plastic sachet of suspected shabu, and P1,000 drug-bust money.

Record obtained from the Police Regional Office (PRO) in Davao Region showed that Huerba was arrested in a drug-bust operation at Seawall in Cagangohan in Panabo City around 9:42 p.m. Wednesday.

During the drug-bust operation, Huerba’s accomplice, identified as Arnel Daval, who is on a drug list, died in a shootout with the authorities.

The incident happened when authorities were about to handcuff Huerba. Daval alighted from his tricycle and reacted by pulling a handgun from his waistline and tried to shoot the arresting officers. Recovered from the possession of the fatal suspect were one caliber .38 revolver with a magazine loaded with five live ammunition and two sachets of suspected shabu. ICT
