Cash cards already being distributed

-

AT LEAST 60 percent of the cash cards for teachers who volunteered as election officers in Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) have been distributed on Monday, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Davao City said.

Comelec-Davao City assistant director Marlon Casquejo said they do not have the numbers yet nor the percentage of those who voted on the BSK election, as of Monday, because they are focusing on the distribution of the cash cards.

They are hopingthat the cash cards will all be distributed by today, Tuesday.

"We will have the voter turnout after we have settle things in the office. As of now, we are still distributing cash cards to

the teachers and the validation on the results in the BSKE is still ongoing. We have 182 barangays," Casquejo said.

In Davao City, there are 3,243 electoral board members in the first district; 2,589 electoral board members in second district; 2,367 in third district, while there are 182 Barangay Boards of Canvassers (BBOC) for the May elections.

Volunteer teachers in the previous elections complained that they did not immediately receive compensation for the work they rendered during elections.

The Comelec earlier assured that the election officials and/ or volunteer teachers will be immediately paid in full for their services during the 2018 barangay and SK polls.

Under the Election Service Reform Act, electoral board head will get P6,000 each, while electoral board members will get P5,000 each.

The Department of Education (Deped) supervisor officials, meanwhile, are entitled to a P4,000 compensation, while support staff will each get P2,000.
