Cash card distribution 90% complete: Comelec 11

- ICT

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Davao Region reported 90 percent of the cash cards for the teachers who served as election officers in the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Election (BSKE) had been released Wednesday.

Comelec-Davao spokesperson Krisna Samantha Caballero said the office is doing its best to distribute all cash cards to the teachers this week. She added that all regional offices were given 15 days from election day to complete the task.

“We do not have the numbers of those who voted on the election because we were instructed to distribute the cash cards first to those teachers who served as election officers in the BSKE. It’s almost complete naman,” Caballero said.

Volunteer teachers in the previous elections complained that they did not immediately receive compensation for the work they rendered during elections.

So far, Caballero said, there were no complaints neither problems raised by volunteer teachers over the cash cards here in Davao Region in this year’s election.

The Comelec earlier assured that the election officials or volunteer teachers will be immediately paid in full for their services during the 2018 barangay and SK polls.

Under the Election Service Reform Act, electoral board head will get P6,000 each, while electoral board members will get P5,000 each.

The Department of Education (Deped) supervisor officials, meanwhile, are entitled to a P4,000 compensation, while support staff will each get P2,000.
