The accused was identified as Regar Flores Torreon, 24, a resident of Barangay Don Mariano in Lupon town, Davao Oriental. He was also tagged among the persons of interest in a recent shooting incident that killed PO3 Walter Canja.

During the implementation of the arrest warrant, the accused grabbed a gun but struggled to disarm the policeman, prompting the other policeman to shoot the accused. The latter was then brought to a nearby hospital for treatment.
