PAIN of falling IN LOVE with your best friend
One of the finest joys in this world is to have somebody you trust more than your family, your best friend from the opposite sex. Being with someone you can be yourself – someone you can be at ease whether you scent stingy or eat too much and pretend you are starving. When you have a best friend like this, it is like you have received the best gift above.
Falling in love may be the best feeling but it is the hardest to deal with.
The everyday chatting, sleeping together without malice and like a sibling relationship is perceived to end. The feelings become so strong and the concern to unveil it and the hope that the best friend feels the same is killing you.
And then you started to reveal your true feelings to your best friend. But your whole world change as he or she begins to be distant from you. You no longer see him or her waiting for you after your class, he or she even disappears fast when you are around. And worst is that he or she told you – “i am in a relationship now”.
It is truly hell when you have learned to love your best friend more than friends and the best friend cannot reciprocate the feelings. You will feel that you are the ugliest person in the world. It is going to ruin your life because you are not ready to lose your best friend and your imagined perfect lover. You will begin to ask yourself ‘what is wrong with me?”. You will regret your choice of being honest and will hate yourself for not putting boundaries in your friendship.
Another is the fact that broken friendships are more hurting than romantic relationships. Before revealing your unrequited love to your best friend, he or she was the most person who knows everything about you. You did not hide anything – even the body location of your most hidden tattoo. He or she was the person who makes your darkest days lighter. So, how do you see now the rainbow if the person who shows you the pretty colors of life is no longer there?
I am not saying that all best friends disappear when they find out about your secret love. Lucky for you if they stay because they appreciated your love even if they cannot return it the way you want to. But in any way around, they may find somebody special to fulfill their desire to have an intimate relationship with the opposite sex, and that may not be you. Of course, your best friend who cares will not want to hurt you. This time, he or she may not share his or her stories. This time, you will feel him or her eventually vanishing - until the time you spent with each other slowly decreases, and then you wake up realizing he or she is no longer there.
Falling in love with your best friend is not a crime because falling in love can happen to the least person we expect. But even though, most will claim that good friendship is the way to a beautiful intimate relationship, some cannot just bloom into more than friend’s relationship. Oh, you might get hurt if your best friend cannot love you back the way you want to but please be reminded that love is free and people has the freedom to choose whom to love. So sadly, now i may say that sometimes your best friend might be your soul mate but he or she may not be the person to fulfill your intimate partner relationship.
