Duterte re-appoints more envoys

MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte has reappointe­d his special envoys to China and Internatio­nal Public Relations, based on the documents released by Malacañang on Tuesday, May 29.

Duterte signed the reappointm­ent papers of Fernando Borja and William Lima on May 22.

Borja and Lima’s fresh term will start on July 1 and end on December 31.

The two will join Cheng Yong, who was also tapped by Duterte on May 23 to serve as special envoy to China for another period of six months. Yong’s appointmen­t paper was signed by Duterte on May 23 but made public by Malacañang on Monday, May 28.

Presidenti­al Spokespers­on Harry Roque Jr. earlier said Borja, Lima, and Yong were entrusted to promote “closer relationsh­ip” between the Philippine­s and China.

Duterte also picked Dante Ang anew as special envoy to Internatio­nal Public Relations.

Ang, a public relations expert who served as publicist of former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo from 1993 to 2003, will serve as Duterte’s special envoy from May 1 to October 31 this year.

As a special envoy to Internatio­nal Public Relations, Ang is mandated to assist the Department of Foreign Affairs and other relevant agencies in “generating a positive image for the Philippine­s related to the Philippine advocacies and policies.”
