Sigue tops national bodybuilding contest
LIONELO Sigue of Pulse85 Fitness Play Ground brought honor for Davao City as he emerged champion in the novice division of the Muscle Beach Asia 2018 that closed Sunday, May 27, in Subic.
Sigue, 30, who hails from Dampa Magtuod in Maa, topped the event after he impressed judges NAC president Patric Tan, vice president JP Yap, Dondon Cortuna, Reynold Dumalsin and Leigh Guda.
"Ang quality siguro na nagpapanalo sa akin sir ay yung definition, proportion and maturity ng muscles pati rin po ang pose and projection," Sigue, a fitness and conditioning coach, said.
He was the lone Dabawenyo among 60 entries who competed in the national event that serves as a qualifier for the international NAC World 2018 Championships slated on June 2 at the IC3 Convention Center in Cebu City.
"Mixed emotions ako sir kasi pag tawag sa akin, in-emphasize nila na 'Pride of Davao' ako kaya naging worth it lahat ng hardwork, sacrifices and travel ko," Sigue shared.
Since 2010, Sigue joined several local body building competitions but was never fortunate to bag a title.
"Nananalo ako ng mga runner-up sir pero this is the first time na nag champion ako tapos sa national competition pa," he said.
Body building for Sigue is a passion.
"Nag start lang ako mag workout hanggang sa naging passion ko na kaya dinedevelop ko na," he said.
What he achieved is all because of the support of his family and the gym staff whom he considers family as well.
Sigue, however, said he can't promise anything in the upcoming international contest in Cebu City but he will do his best just like what he did in Subic.
