PRO 11: 15 killed since drug war resumed
THE Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 recorded at least 15 drug suspects who were killed during legitimate police operations while 556 drug personalities were arrested across the region since the drug war resumed last December 5, 2017.
The data, provided by PRO 11 spokesperson Police Chief Inspector Milgrace Driz, showed that as of May 28, 2018, 11 of fatalities were from Davao City Police Office (DCPO) operations and four were from Davao del Norte Provincial Police Office (DNPPO). These personalities allegedly resisted arrest.
Driz said new Philippine National Police chief Oscar Albayalde has a standing order to all police units to sustain the accomplishment on narcotics crackdown nationwide of former PNP chief Ronald dela Rosa and to instill discipline among the police officers.
“[The] directives ng ating chief PNP is to continue ‘yong illegal drugs operations natin and ‘yong program thrust naman niya is strict discipline at all levels especially at the [police] stations,” Driz said.
Based on their data, there are a total of 980 personalities who are in the watch list for their involvement in the illegal drug trade and 879 of this number were subjected to Oplan Tokhang.
However, there were only 299 individuals who surrendered and of this number 248 were in the drug watch list. A total of 631 drug personalities refused to heed the call of the police.
Meanwhile, the arrested drug personalities are facing charges for violation of the Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
Most of the arrested were from DCPO at 365, DNPPO (102), Compostela Valley PPO (33), Davao del Sur PPO (26), Davao Oriental PPO (24) and Davao Occidental PPO (six).
