Manhunt vs suspects behind farmer's death

THE Mati City Police Station is hunting down suspects behind the death of a farmer alleged to be a member of the New People’s Army (NPA) who was shot dead in Barangay Taguibo, Mati City Thursday afternoon.

Police identified the victim as Ryan Jay Clave Mahinay, 24, a farmer who is reportedly a member of the Malisya ng Bayan of the NPA, from Purok Casilac-1 of the same barangay.

According to witnesses, police said the victim was last seen talking with four men believed to be members of the Malisya ng Bayan of the NPA before the incident happened.

Report obtained from the Police Regional Office (PRO) in Davao region showed the incident happened at around 4 p.m. while the victim was inside his house.

The four suspects, all wearing black jackets and ball caps, entered the house of the victim. The latter and the four suspects talked before the suspects went outside the house.

However, when suspects were already about 10 meters away from the house, they then shot the victim several times and hurriedly left.

The victim succumbed to several gunshot wounds in different parts of his body and one in his head. The cadaver of the victim was brought to a nearby funeral home.

Police then conducted a follow-up investigat­ion to identify and locate the whereabout­s of the suspects.
