2 drug suspects sued in Samal

TWO accused illegal drug pushers are facing charges before the court after they were caught possessing drugs in two separate drug-bust operations in the Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos) on Thursday.

Facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or The Comprehens­ive Dangerous Drugs Act, are Edmund Tampos Cumiling, 32, of Barangay 76-A, Ecoland, Davao City; and Fernando Alzate Maceda Jr. of Island Garden City of Samal.

Cumiling was arrested about 5:45 p.m. on Thursday in a drug-bust operation conducted by members of the Bunawan Police Station at Km. 28, Crossing Litoan, Lasang in Davao City.

Police accompanie­d Cumiling before the Davao City Prosecutio­n Office on Friday morning for the inquest proceeding. Recovered from his possession were one sachet of suspected shabu and one P500 bill served as the marked money.

Maceda, meanwhile, was arrested around 8:50 p.m. on Thursday in a drug-bust operation at Purok 5 in Barangay Mambago A, Samal District of the Island Garden City of Samal.

The police brought Maceda before the prosecutio­n office of Samal on Friday morning for the inquest proceeding­s. Recovered from his possession were one square plastic sachet containing dried marijuana, white lighter and P500.

Data obtained from the Police Regional Office (PRO) in Davao region revealed that the police arrested a total of 556 suspected illegal drug pushers and users in Davao region since January this year.

Cumiling is currently detained at the Bunawan police station, while Maceda is currently detained at the Samal District Police Station. ICT
