All systems go for classes opening today
IT is all systems go for the opening of classes in the public schools today, June 4, 2018, nationwide as Deped mobilized all stakeholders to ensure that all the schools will be ready for the opening of classes but most importantly the beneficiaries, all school age learners are in school and will stay until graduation.
Deped Secretary Leonor M. Briones was elated to see the all out support of stakeholders as she mentioned that the sight of you all supporting education gives Deped officials and personnel, so much joy and inspiration.
She said that through the active involvement of the education partners and Brigada Eskwela volunteers in the National Schools Maintenance Week, the Deped can ensure that learners will have a school environment conducive to learning come the opening of classes in June.
This year’s Brigada carries the theme, “Pagkakaisa para saHanda, Ligtas at Matatag na Paaralan tungo sa Magandang Kinabukasan,” and campaigns for the various efforts of the Department toward a quality, accessible, relevant and liberating basic education.
The Secretary emphasized that these campaigns and efforts include campaigns and projects on anti-illegal drug, wash-in-schools, disaster resiliency, and EskweLA BAN saSigarilyo, among others.
To make sure that a smooth opening of classes for school year (SY) 2018-2019 on June 4 will be realized, the Department of Education (Deped) convened various agencies, institutions, and stakeholders to form the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Oplan Balik Eskwela (OBE) 2018. In Davao Region, Regional Director Alberto T. Escobarte, CESO III gathered all government line agencies and utility entities for power and water supply in a convergence meeting that was also attended by all schools superintendents and assistant superintendents and regional chiefs to discuss measures to make the opening classes a beautiful experience for the learners.
With all the support extended to Deped from Central, Regional, Division, down to the schools and learning centers, Sec. Briones expressed her gratitude to the unwavering support not only during the start of classes but also for the rest of the school year. Briones thankedthe partner agencies in the government because this is not just the undertaking of the Department, this is the undertaking of the entire community of Filipinos who is interested in, and advocates quality education.”
The Secretary further expressed confidence in the preparedness of the Department for SY 2018-2019 as she assured everyone that we are all ready because the Department have been spending the first months of the year making assessments and preparing for this school year.
This Corner hopes that even if minor glitches will happen during the opening of classes, all of the learners will be able to be in school and stay in school until graduation in all levels.
