- By Ace June Rell Perez

DABAWENYO students and young professionals who are eyeing for global career in hospitality management need not to go abroad as Dusit Hospitality Management College (DHMC) will open a school in the country sometime in August.

DHMC, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia, will be located at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig

World-class education for aspiring hoteliers and restaurateurs is now within reach as DHMC brings together for the first time three of the most trusted names in the international hospitality and culinary education: Thailandbased Dusit International, Switzerland’s École hôtelière de Lausanne, and France’s Institut Paul Bocuse.

"We are touring around the country for a roadshow to spread the good news," Lars Eltvik, DHMC and dusitD2 the Fort, Manila Managing Director said in a media and industry presentation last Thursday, May 31 at the Marco Polo Hotel -Davao.

With DHMC being fully integrated with dusitD2 the Fort, Manila, students have unique opportunities to gain relevant work experience in all the areas of the hotel operations and at different levels throughout their studies.

Eltvik shared that Dusit International decided to put its first DHMC in the Philippines because Filipinos are well known and respected in the global hospitality industry "as hard working, creative, and dependable."

DHMC’s unique education concept, he said, will allow students to have access and gain experience in first class hospitality and culinary facilities, including practical kitchens, five restaurants, function rooms, recreational facilities (swimming pool and fitness center), exquisitely appointed guest rooms and suites.

The DHMC curriculum follows the standards set by the country’s Commission on Higher Education.

The bachelor degree program in hospitality management that DHMC is offering is certified by the world renowned École hôtelière de Lausanne. Throughout the program students gain work experience and exposure in the dusitD2 the Fort, Manila – and will also complete a sixmonth internship, which may be completed in the Philippines or abroad.

For culinary and specialty programs for career switchers, carried out by its Professional Advancement Centre, it will be offered in collaboration with Institut Paul Bocuse.

DHMC’s Professional Advancement Centre will offer a range of culinary courses of different duration, as well as courses for wine appreciation and barista training. The centre also offers courses in English to those aspiring to work abroad, with particular emphasis on gaining proficiency in the language of the hospitality and tourism industries.

The Executive Education programs are designed to hone one’s business skills and acumen to work in a wide range of areas within the hospitality industry while the Driving Hotel Revenues Course is designed for students to develop a solid understanding of the key concepts in strategic revenue management.
