SAF member caught in pot session faces dismissal

-

MANILA - The Special Action Force (SAF) member who was arrested while having a pot session in Taguig City will automatically be dismissed from service, said Philippine National Police Chief Oscar Albayalde on Monday, June 4.

Police Officer 3 Lyn Tubig, of the SAF 44th Battalion in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig, was arrested in Barangay Tuktukan on Saturday, June 2, together with her boyfriend, John Vincent German, and his father Fernando German.

She was presented to media Monday, June 4.

Albayalde said Tubig tested positive for drug use.

National Capital Region Police Office Director Guillermo Eleazar said police were initially responding to a theft incident in Taguig when they caught the trio in a pot session.

The police were chasing the theft suspects when they found Tubig and her companions.

Eleazar said that Tubig admitted using illegal drugs even before she tested positive for it.

“Well, actually when I confronted her during her arrest, I was there, umamin naman siya talaga na gumagamit siya ng illegal na droga at ayaw niyang idamay ang Special Action Force sa kanyang ginagawa (She admitted that she's using illegal drugs and she doesn't want to drag the SAF),” he said.

“But just the same, ito ‘yung dapat mawala sa ating organisasyon (this is the kind of person who must be removed from the organization),” he added. Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo/ SunStar Philippines
