Sustainable development of environment everybody’ s concern

-

THIS has been my advocacy as an environmentalist and I had an enthusiasm for its success in the person of Miss Gina Lopez. I read her feature on “from the Heart” story in a local newspaper. She has her increasing realization: The base of all successful developments is a non - negotiable commitment to values. It is her consciousness of the group that determines success. I followed all her successful endeavors and this the latest. The Earth Warrior training is a necessary component in all community projects. It is symbolic and a good start. Consciousness formation needs constant mentoring- it needs to be in the system of operations. The training may be a 2-day, 2-night event where there is team building, planning, and a River of Life segment where participants draw their lives, connect it to the present project and the share their hearts with the group. Invariably, tears roll as they open up what had been shelved aside for years just to keep on going. The training is an education of sorts .

Now , I can write of the education or teaching in my 48 years of my teaching career. Here education is like a factory. Here students are expected to regurgitate information. They are supposed to memorize what are in the books then write it in the test papers and get high grades. This is rote learning without the necessary element of learning or getting educated using their minds , and hearts, their intelligent thought processing prowess . They take no risk. Risk is not valued. No one learns from his mistakes. It does not encourage passion, no empathy is taught when actually it is the wisdom of the heart that has premier value. The Earth Warrior Training is all about the heart. It is about discipline, about opening. It is about feeling the power of the group. It is about commitment to values.

The Earth Warrior takes an oath to integrity, to love, to care for the environment , and to a healthy lifestyle . I do this full of hope in my heart for God, for country - and a brighter future for all. The Earth Warriors plan their own projects . They need to feel it is theirs, so that they can give it their all They can plan creative ways how to draw from point A to B. There is no rests but blooming of enthusiasm . They lead lives of “bread and butter” scenarios. It is so amusing to see them play. They play dodge ball, frisbee, relay. The cultural programs in the evening are also a revelation. They have come up with dramas, songs, dances which have messages

Another item of interest , I want to mention here is about our programs for tourism. The Philippine Tourism Authority is promoting Ecotourism. This is a new catchword in the world of travel. The tourists are provided a nature tour or leisure travel. The tour operators give them outdoor activities available as mountain trekking and hiking, wilderness exploration, nature photography, wildlife viewing, bird watching, spelunking or exploring caves, river rafting scuba diving, varieties of Philippine flora and fauna (plants and animals) and other ecological attractions of interests.

The Philippines, composed of some 7,000 islands boast of natural wonders and unspoiled scenic beauty. We have the fantastic Chocolate Hills in Bohol, scenic Mayon Volcano with its perfect cone tip in Bicol, the highest mount the Apo in Mindanao, the incredible mile long underground river in Palawan. Hundred Islands in Alaminos, Pangasinan. Baguio, the summer capital, is a city for tourist vacations.

Tourists are learning the culture and traditions, specifically of the indigenous people. They respect these and treat them with courtesy . For comments text mobile no. 09202112534.
