New Alegria holds 1st Lechon Festival
Compostela Valley Province - Fifty delicious, crispy, yummy and crunchy organic lechon (roasted pig) were displayed during the celebration of the first Lechon Festival of Barangay New Alegria, Compostela, Compostela Valley Province on May 17, 2018.
The event is in line with the celebration of the 50th Founding Anniversary or Araw ng Barangay New Alegria with the theme “Bulawanong Panaghiusa para sa Malungtarong Kauswagan sa atong Barangay”.
The different flavors of lechon with different sizes were displayed at the Barangay Gymnasium for the dinner for all or "Salosalo sa Panihapon" with the people attending the celebration.
Prior to the program, a motorcade, basketball exhibition of the Rohan Institute College of Bukidnon versus Holy Cross of Sasa College and the preparation of the lechon as well as the holy mass were done.
According to Councilor Myrel V. Bangcasan, committee chair on Tourism, the main goal of the festival is to showcase that the best lechon is found in Barangay New Alegria of Compostela town.
“Ang tumong gyud nato ani nganung ato kining gi-celebrate ang lechon festival atol sa ika50 nga Araw sa Barangay para mahibal-an sa tanan nga naa diay sa Barangay New Alegria makita ang lamian ug kayang-kaya sa bulsa nga lechon baboy,” Bangcasan said.
She added that this is also the best way to help improve the livelihood of the constituents especially that their business is into preparing and selling "lechong baboy" for different occasion.
Meanwhile, Barangay Captain Alex Lendio said that every Araw ng Barangay the lechon are sponsored by the different puroks and also the barangay with 11 lechon per celebration.
“At this time, happy kaayo ko sa ika 50th nga celebration kay niabot gyud ug 50 kabuok REY ANTIBO, IDCOMVAL lechon ang pagasalohan sa tanang mga tao ug ni-participate sa maong activity nga nahimo gyud ang 1st lechon festival nga successful,” Lendio said.
