Robbery suspect charged

CHARGES were filed before the Davao City Prosecutio­n Office in Davao on Monday, June 4, against a tricycle driver who was nabbed for stealing a phone from a student and for possessing illegal drugs.

Facing charges for robbery and violation of the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehens­ive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 is Rinnie Antonio Jimenez, 42, a driver, of Purok 10 in Barangay 39-D this city.

Personnel of the Sta. Ana police station accompanie­d the suspect before the prosecutio­n office on Monday morning for record and inquest proceeding­s, following his arrest on Sunday evening.

Record showed the suspect was arrested on J.P. Laurel Avenue corner Jacinto Street at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, after he hold-up a student named John Neri Ingay Luayon, a college student.

According to Luayon, he was waiting for a public utility jeepney (PUJ) when the suspect approached him and declared hold-up. He said the suspect was pointing a knife on his waist and forcibly took his Asus brand phone worth P10,000.

The suspect then ran to Jacinto Street while the victim tried to run after him, as he shouted for assistance that caught the attention of the police officers who were conducting surveillan­ce nearby.

Recovered from the possession of the suspect were two elongated sachets containing suspected shabu concealed in his pocket and the phone. He is currently detained at the Sta. Ana Police Station. ICT
