8 face illegal gambling raps

EIGHT people are facing charges before the court after they were caught playing illegal numbers games in two separate incidents in Davao Region on Tuesday.

Facing charges for violation of the Republic Act 9287 or The Penalties for Illegal Numbers Games are Dolores Taming, Lourdes Macadagat, Rosalina Sumambot, Mel Salisad, Fernando Conog, Salvadaor Sanchez, Jim Baon, and Lito Gulay.

The policemen accompanie­d the suspects before the prosecutio­n office in their respective areas of responsibi­lity on Wednesday morning for record and inquest proceeding­s.

Record obtained from the Police Regional Office (PRO 11) showed that Taming, Macadagat, Sumambot, Salisad and Conog were arrested by members of the Manay Municipal Police Station in Barangay Central at 8:20 a.m.

They were caught betting for the game Last Two.

Confiscate­d from the possession of the five suspects were P1,356 bet money, ballpen, yellow paper and other illegal gambling parapherna­lia. They are currently detained at the Manay Municipal Police Station.

Meanwhile, Sanchez, Baon and Gulay were arrested by members of the Calinan Police Station at about 5:50 p.m. in Barangay Buhawi in Calinan, Davao City, after they were caught playing tong-its, an illegal card games.

Confiscate­d from the possession of the three were P130 bet money and illegal gambling parapherna­lia. The suspects are currently detained at the Calinan Police Station.

PRO 11 earlier noted a total of 257 illegal gambling cases filed in court from January to April this year alone.
