DavOr begins countdown to 51
DAVAO ORIENTAL— The countdown to Davao Oriental’s 51st Founding Anniversary celebration, which will showcase various exciting events, has already begun.
With only a few weeks more to go before the province will celebrate yet another year of many milestones and developments, employees and officials have welcomed the grand occasion through the opening of the annual sports local sports event dubbed as “Davao Orientalympics” which kicked off on June 5.
In the following weeks, employees from the provincial level and national agencies will be competing for this year’s Governor’s Cup in different sports event such as basketball, darts, lawn and table tennis, among many others.
As highlight of this year’s celebration, Davao Oriental will host the First Davao Oriental Horse show and competition on June 29 to 30 wherein horse competition enthusiasts from different horse clubs across Mindanao are expected to join. In partnership with the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office, the first-ever event to be held here will be a major at MATI traction that is poised to promote agri-ecotourism. Different breeds of horses, obstacle race, barrel horse, oval race and other farm related games will be showcased during the event.
The 51st anniversary will again spotlight the Davao Oriental’s Dagmay in a fashion show called Bulawanong Habi at the Capitol Covered Court on June 28. Organized by Davao Oriental’s First Lady, Nanette Dayanghirang since the golden anniversary last year, the fashion show will be featuring the Dagmay-inspired creations of Davao’s top designers.
The anniversary celebration will also be bringing Filipino celebrities here for a Celebrity Basketball Challenge at the Davao Oriental State University (DORSU) on June 29.
Other events leading to the Anniversary celebration are a tree planting activity is set to be conducted on the dawn of June 22 along Badas and Culian road; bloodletting activity on June 26; and the Inalima 2018 Trade Fair and Exhibit at the Honey’s Hotel, Matiao, City of Mati on June 27 to 30 which will showcase products of local entrepreneurs.
