Clobbered, beaten

Pagara stops Odoi in 3rd, wins WBO in hometown

-

Albert Pagara (30-1, 21 KOs) put on a nasty beating on Ghanian Laryea Gabriel Odoi (20-4-2, 14 KOs) and stopped him in just three rounds in the main event of Pinoy Pride 44 - "Laban sa Leyte" in a jam-packed Maasin City Gym.

Pagara dropped with a straight right followed by a left in the second round. He sent Odoi to canvass again in the following round.

As Pagara was clobbering Odoi, his trainer Emmanuel Amponsah literally threw in the towel in the 2:30 mark to save his fighter from taking more damage.

Pagara won the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) Inter-Continental super bantamweight belt and improved to 30-1 with 21 knockouts. Odoi dropped to 20-4-2 with 14 knockouts. Jeo Santisima (16-2, 14 KOs) finally got his first regional belt after winning the WBO Oriental super bantamweight title with a third round stoppage of Thai Likit Chane (16-6, 10 KOs).

Santisima rocked Chane with a left hook that backed the Thai to the ropes. Santisima unleashed a flurry of punches but even though Chane looked like he was still intelligently defending himself, referee Tony Pesons still stopped the bout at the 1:43 mark.

Jason Pagara (41-31, 26 KOs) knocked out Indonesian journeyman Wellem Reyk (19-19-4, 5 KOs) in the 1:15 mark of the third round. Pagara dropped Reyk with a vicious left hook to the head.

Two-time world title challenger Arthur Villanueva (32-3, 18 KOs) stopped experienced Renren Tesorio (16-133, 4 KOs) in the seventh round.

One-time world title challenger Melvin Jerusalem (13-2, 7 KOs) put on a boxing clinic and stopped tough Philip Luis Cuerdo (10-5-1, 4 KOs) in the 1:12 mark of the eighth round.

Fil-Japanese Go Hosaka (1-0, 1 KO) had a successful pro debut with a first round knockout of Holly Quinones (3-10-1, 1 KO) in the 2:40 mark of the opening round.

Joyjoy Formentera (93, 5 KOs) scored a third round TKO of Lobert Bayo (7-8) with a right hook to the body in 49 seconds.

Carlito Antaran (2-31, 1 KO) scored a huge upset with a second round knockout of previously unbeaten Jeno Macapobre (3-1, 2 KOs) in the opening bout of Pinoy Pride 44 - "Laban sa Leyte".
