Addu batches 2003, 2006 victorious in St. Ignatius Cup

THE Ateneo de Davao University (Addu) Batch 2003, with former De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers coaching staff Miggy Solitaria scoring 19 points, posted a pulsating 56-52 victory over Addu Batch 2014 in yesterday's opener of the Hoops 4 Lifeorganized St. Ignatius Cup held at the Rizal Memorial Colleges (RMC) Event Center.

The hefty Solitaria also dished out eight points and grabbed six rebounds to propel the team to its first victory in a fund-raising event that will benefit a varsity scholar of Addu junior.

On the other hand, Batch 2006 demolished Batch 2009 6246, with David Abundo at the helm.

Abundo scored a double-double 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Batch 2011, for its part, won over Batch 2005 58-51, behind the heroics of Ranjit Singh who sank 13 markers and secured eight boards.

Chosi Cabigas, meanwhile, powered Batch 2007 against youth-laden Addu Pasarelle Team 63-49.

Cabigas dropped 19 points with eight rebounds.

Meantime, Jess Evangelio, commissioner of St. Ignatius Cup, in a recent conversation with Sun. Star Davao, said this is an annual league which gathers former varsities and alumnis of Addu to promote camaraderie among each other.

"This league will also benefit a scholar from Holy Child College of Davao who transferred in Addu. We will race P45,000 for that particular student to help him with his studies," Evangelio said.

The event will resume next Sunday at the same venue.
