OVER 500 bike and motorcycle enthusiasts joined Sunday’s Ride for Peace caravan to show that Paquibato district is safe despite being tagged as a conflict area.

Based on Davao City Information Office report, the bikers and motorists traveled from Panabo City to Malagos using the Paquibato road.

Davao City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio said the event was an eye-opener for investors and tourists as it showed that the road connecting Paquibato is open and safe.

“This is a way to show to everybody that Paquibato is now ready for tourists and investors now that we have a good road connectivity,” DuterteCarpio said.

She also thanked the 1003rd Infantry Brigade for highlighting the challenges in Paquibato district; and showing to the public that the area is now open for investment and further development.

Col. Ernesto Torres, 100rd Brigade commander, also thanked the participants who showed their trust and confidence in the military for undertaking the event, and the City Government for its support for the military efforts in Paquibato.

“I think because of what we have done, we are able to send a message to the public that Paquibato district area is already ready for peace and development,” Torres said.

He added that the Ride for Peace was a historic event since it is the first time that hundreds of people - including military officials - went through the Paquibato area and were confident in its safety to do so.

Recently, Duterte-Carpio launched Peace 911 in Paquibato District, which was tasked to address the social needs of the residents and to act as a bridge for projects and programs of the city and national governments in the area.
