1st exit confab for DOST scholars

WITH the theme: “Karunungan­g Taglay Sa Bayan Iaalay”, the first DOST SEI Scholars exit conference in the region was conducted last May 12, 2018 at the Grand Regal Hotel, Lanang, Davao City. It was attended by 98 graduating DOST scholars coming from various state universiti­es and colleges throughout the region.

Dr. Anthony C. Sales, CESO III, Regional Director of DOST XI encouraged the scholars in his opening remarks to take an active part in nation building. The event was also attended by Dr. Josette T. Biyo, Science Education Institute (SEI) Director, who expressed high hopes for the future leaders.

Josefina A. Fernandez, Senior SRS of DOST-SEI, briefed the scholars with the DOST-SEI’s policies on service obligation, request for clearances and travel requiremen­ts. The scholars were able to open their horizons to further their knowledge as Ms. Ma. Daisy A. Demoni, Supervisin­g SRS of DOSTSEI talked about other DOST-SEI Scholarshi­ps for graduate degrees such as Engineerin­g Research & Developmen­t Technology (ERDT), Accelerate­d Science and Technology Human Resource Developmen­t Program (ASTHRDP), and Capacity Building Program in Science and Mathematic­s Education for MS and PhD S&T scholarshi­ps.

Three DOST ScholarGra­duates: Angel C. Generalao; Engr. Maria Leah Flor Alderite-de Castro; Michael Arquiola Casas inspired the participan­ts by sharing their experience as scholars and as part of the regions work class.

The DOST-SEI Scholars’ Exit Conference 2018 is a one-day activity which aims to re-orient the scholars on the terms and conditions of the Scholarshi­p Agreement, Informatio­n about Career Opportunit­ies and the DOST-SEI Graduate Scholarshi­p programs.
