P450K lost in fire

A FIRE gutted down a two-storey mixed type building with an estimated damage of P450,000 at corner Jacinto and Aurora Quezon Streets in Brgy 32-D, Davao City.

Senior Fire Officer 1 (SFO1) Ramil Gillado, chief of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Davao City Investigat­ion and Intelligen­ce Section, said that no casualties were reported.

Based on their investigat­ion, the fire started at about 5:05 a.m. yesterday involving a residentia­l/boarding house and a tire shop.

Several fire responders including Bangoy, Central, SIR fire trucks, 911 fire auxiliary rescue SRU and emergency, Filipino Chinese volunteer, Davao Volunteer Fire Brigade went to the area to contain the fire before it spread to nearby houses.

The ground floor of the structure was utilized as mercantile tire shop/supply while the second floor was utilized as residentia­l occupied by three families and two renters.

One of the structures was totally razed while the other one was partially damaged. The fire was quick to raze the

structure because it was made of light and combustibl­e materials.

The owner of the involved property is Vicente Marcial.

Gillado added that the point of origin of the fire was at the ceiling portion of the tire shop located at the ground floor due to electrical short circuit.

It was declared fire out at 6:30 a.m. JCR
