Task force formed to look into brgy chief’s death
THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) formed a Special Investigation Task Force (SITF) to track down the suspects who ambushed and killed the outgoing chief of Barangay Talandang in Tugbok district and a companion on June 7.
DCPO director Police Senior Superintendent Alexander Tagum hinted yesterday that these unidentified gunmen, who shot the victims were members of the New People’s Army (NPA). The victims were identified as Talandang village chair Reynaldo Dumagan, 52, and his driver Fernando Suganob.
“Nag-create tayo ng isang Special Investigation Task Force with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG 11) and all Philippine National Unit involved in the investigation
para po matumbok kung ano ba ang nangyari at kung sino ang nasa likod nitong pagpaslang kay Kapitan,” he said.
Tagum added that they have a lead already on who are the suspects and the group behind the incident but he refused to reveal other details as the investigation is still ongoing.
“Meron na kaming tinututukan at meron na kaming ginagather na evidence,” he said in a media interview.
Based on the latest information that they have gathered, the ambush incident is not politically motivated but aimed to silence Dumagan as the victim was being suspected to be an informant of the government on their activities. JCR (For full story visit www.sunstar.com.ph/davao/)
