Over 1K flock Kalayaan Job Fair

MORE than 1,000 jobseekers registered and applied for the Independen­ce Days Jobs Fair yesterday, June 12, at the Almendras Gym.

In a data provided by the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) Davao Region as of 11 a.m. yesterday, 1,005 applicants registered for the jobs fair. Out of this number, 400 looked for local jobs while 605 searched for jobs overseas.

There were 160 applicants that were qualified, 82 were local and 78 were for overseas employment. About 284 applicants were interviewe­d. Out of this number, 114 were for local employment and 170 for overseas employment.

Four local applicants were also hired on the spot. There were 203 near-hire applicants with 102 for local employment and 101 for overseas employment.

The Independen­ce Days Jobs Fair was organized by Dole Davao Region together with the Public Employment Service Office (Peso) Davao City. There were a total of 50 local companies and 20 overseas companies that offered a combined 10,979 job vacancies to the job seekers.

During the I-speak press conference on June 5, Peso Davao City Chief Lilibeth Pantinople said the most in-demand local jobs in this jobs fair are call center agents, constructi­on-related skilled workers, marketing personnel, service crews, engineers, and human resource personnel while the most in-demand overseas jobs include nurses, sales assistant, caregivers, skilled workers, engineers, beautician­s, waiters and waitresses, dental personnel, and machine operators.

Pantinople added most of these overseas workers are in-demand in the Middle East, Singapore, and Australia. JPA
