IP Forum, side event of IPG

LAKE SEBU, South Cotabato - Mindanao State University professor Henry Daut is the resource speaker of the Indigenous Peoples (IP) Forum set tomorrow, Friday, as a side event of the three-day IP Games (IPG) that opens at the Lake Sebu Municipal Gym.

Daut, who also spearheade­d the IP Forum launch in Tagum City, Davao del Norte last April, will tackle "Restoring the Heritage, Reliving the Past, Rekindling the Spirit".

An open forum will follow after his presentati­on.

Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Commission­er Charles Raymond A. Maxey, oversight incharge of the IP Games, said that a total of 100 participan­ts signified their intention to join the IP Forum.

"We are very happy with the reception and interest for the IP Forum, particular­ly from the education sector. Students from the Lake Sebu Central Elementary School and National High School confirmed to attend the Forum," he said.

He added that the Department of Education (DepEd), National Commission on Indigneous Peoples (NCIP), LGUs, Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representa­tives (IPMRs) and the municipal tourism office are also expected to attend the IP Forum.

Meanwhile, some 300 participan­ts from T'boli, Lake Sebu, Koronadal City, and Surallah are entered in the IP Games that will feature games such as the hemanak, hanaw or kadang, sedeyol be klifak bliboy, setanggung or lechon race, sudul, meyon kuda law, and defut or sfut.

Senator Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and South Cotabato Governor Daisy Avance Fuentes were invited to grace the opening ceremonies.PSC-PSI
