DAVAO DEL NORTE is strengthening its business and trade climate in a bid to entice more domestic and foreign investors.

Governor Anthony del Rosario said the province has been implementing policies that are vital to investors in a bid to become one of the country's booming investment hotspots.

“We have since sent the clear message far and wide that Davao del Norte is always open for business and is eager to welcome more investors,” Del Rosario said.

He said the investment climate in Davao del Nore is upbeat with relative peace, economic stability, ease of doing business, growing infrastructure network, and favorable geographic location. Its local government units are also working on making faster transactions in securing business permits.

Del Rosario one of Davao del Norte’s advantage is when investors come here their labor cost is much lower as compared to other cities but at the same time the workforce is highly skilled and trainable.

The province's geographic location also provides convenient and economical accessibility of goods and people.

Davao del Norte is also an hour's drive away from the Francisco Bangoy International Airport. The province is also fairly near the Port of Davao, which is complemented by two international container terminals strategically located within the province.

“This strategic position of Davao del Norte allows investors to expand their market base within the BIMP-Eaga growth cluster,” Del Rosario said.

The province's strategic location allowed it to accrue P8.494-billion worth of investments, topping the Bureau of Investment (BOI)approved investments poured in the Davao region in 2014.

Though there was a noted decline in domestic and inward investments last year, the province generated a total of P1.906 billion investments from new ventures.

Under his Best People development agenda, Del Rosario has implemented reforms in governance aimed at increasing the competitiveness of the province in terms of local trade and investments.

These efforts were recognized when Davao del Norte received special recognition as one of the finalists in the 2017 Most BusinessFriendly Local Government Unit Award Province Level 1 given by Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).

The province was also recognized as the Most Competitive Province in the Davao Region, following its climb as the 7th Most Competitive Province among 81 provinces in the country in 2017, from its previous 15th rank in 2016, as determined by the National Competitiveness Council (NCC).

The competitiveness of Davao del Norte will be put on display during the Kadagayaan Festival 2018, in celebration of the the 51st Araw ng Davao del Norte.

The festivity is supported by the Tagum Agricultural Development Company, Inc. (Tadeco), Ulticon Builders, Inc. and MED 9, as the official anniversary partners.

Sponsors of the celebration include the Hijo Resources Corporation, Davao Metro Shuttle, Kapalong Cooperative, Tagum Cooperative, Inc., LYR Group of Companies, Land Bank of the Philippines and the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation.
