Anvil Business Club to induct officers here

AROUND 100 officers of the Anvil Business Club, an associatio­n of young Filipino Chinese entreprene­urs, will be here in Davao City for their induction, which will be led by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, on June 30, 2018 at the Marco Polo Hotel Davao

This will be the first time the organizati­on, which has 450 members from different industries, will hold its induction outside Metro Manila.

Anvil Business Club chairman Wilson Lee Flores and president Patrick Cua said they will staging the induction here in the city as a testament of their confidence to its local economy.

The members of Anvil sees Davao City as a prime economic hub in the country and seeks to encourage more young entreprene­urs to study its economic opportunit­ies and invest outside Metro Manila.

The Anvil Business Club aims to encourage traditiona­l Confucian values and entreprene­urial courage among young entreprene­urs; uphold high standards of ethics and civic consciousn­ess; and support the Philippine­s' global competitiv­eness.

Throughout the years, the organizati­on served as a training ground for leaders like past Anvil chairmen who are now vice-presidents of the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII): Michael Tan of LT Group, Jeffrey Ng of Astoria Hotels/Cathay Land, and David Chua of Cathay Pacific Steel Corp.

Anvil chairman emeritus George Siy is also FFCCCII trade & industry committee chairman, while former Anvil officer is former Agricultur­e Secretary & now Bohol Congressma­n Arthur Yap. A new honorary member of Anvil is Davao City's Dennis Uy, who controls three publicly-listed companies including Phoenix Petroleum. PR
