Arrogant driver named, probed

-

The City Government of Davao has started investigating the driver of the vehicle that was parked illegally in front of a restaurant — blocking other cars — earlier this week.

The incident was caught in a video that went viral on social media. It was widely criticized by netizens. It happened Tuesday in downtown Davao.

The driver, identified as Roberto Limboy, was assigned to the City Engineer's Office (CEO).

City Administrator Lawyer Zuleika T. Lopez said she has already issued a memorandum for the conduct of an investigation against Limboy, a job order employee.

She said the LGU is observing zero tolerance on erring workers.

“I have already instructed the Human Resource and Management Office (HRMO) to conduct an investigation with regard to the issue and to pass a recommendation on the possible punishment that the driver will face,” Lopez said.

She said the incident should serve as a reminder to all government employee that they should always act with professionalism as their actions would certainly have an effect on the image of the city government.

She said city govern-

ment employees should go the extra mile in extending courtesy to the public.

“It is our responsibility to market what Davao can offer. I strongly encourage the employees to participate by exhibiting exemplary behavior in dealing with other people,” Lopez said.

Erwin Alparaque, HRMO head, said he had summoned Limboy to explain his side over the incident.

“I want to hear the other side of the story. Limboy will explain himself first before we make any decision. There might be some misunderstanding that led to the fateful incident,” Alparaque said.

“It is a basic knowledge that a driver should park his vehicle properly, especially when he is a government driver. He, himself, should follow the law since his action will reflect the image of the city,” he added.

Alparaque said Limboy might be terminated if the result of the investigation does not favor him.
