Super health center eyed

- By Juliet C. Revita

A Davao City councilor targets to pilot a Super Health Center, a health facility that will operate and be manned by staff 24 hours in Calinan District.

Councilor Mary Joselle D. Villafuerte, chair of the committee on health, said on Tuesday that during their visit in San Juan City for the signing of Sisterhood Agreement, they were impressed with

the health program of the local government.

They learned that they have Super Health Center and she is taking into consideration of having a similar one in Davao City since health centers are currently limited to office hours. She said this will strengthen health services at the barangay level which will only cater to minor health concerns.

“Pag-aaralan ko din paano nila ginawa yon na ang Super Health Center nila 24 hours bukas, what kind of budget do they allocate for that kind of program,” she said.

She said that Davao City, being a big city, also needs medical services considering that the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) is also congested.

So instead of admitting a certain patient to the hospital for minor injury, they could be rushed to the health center for treatment instead.

“Titingnan namin kung kayang gawin sa Calinan na iopen namin ng 24 hours kung willing ba yong staff. I-pilot muna, isa munang health center and then we will present it to the mayor, if the mayor likes it, then she might put some funds in it,” she said.
