GMA’s unique singing tilt to premiere on July 7
THE Kapuso Network’s newest singing competition on TV, “The Clash,” will already premiere this Saturday, July 7. Last March 10, the show’s crew, including its host Regine Velasquez-Alcasid and audition master Vehnee Saturno, were in Davao City to look for potential contestants. At least three months after the auditions, the top 62 of the thousands of hopefuls from all over the country will be introduced finally. During an interview with the Davao media then the Asia’s Songbird described her latest TV project as “unique” because of how the country’s next singing sensation would be chosen. Based on the show’s mechanics, the contestants have the chance to choose their opponent per round. Therefore, they could always choose someone whom they think are easy to beat.
To choose the winner, Asia’s Nightingale Lani Misalucha, Asia’s Romantic Balladeer Christian Bautista and Comedy Concert Queen Ai Ai delas Alas serve as the judges.
“Since the auditions started, na-excite ako kasi ang dami nilang nakapasok. Mag-sa-start na yung main elimination round and mas makikita natin yung talent nilang lahat. Excited ako na magsimula yung pagka-clash ng bawat isa sa kanila,” the multiawarded singer-host said in a statement.
For Lani, who has been away from the limelight for so long, revealed that she is excited to work again for a new TV program, especially that it will be with her “The Clash” co-judges.
“I think this program is a refresher for me because makakatrabaho ko sila Regine, Ai Ai and Christian na years ago ko na rin nakasama. This time, it’s different kasi we’ll be working as a team to choose kung sino ba talaga ang deserving to be the first ‘The Clash’ champion kaya nakaka-excite.”
Just like Regine, Ai-Ai has the same description of the show, saying that “Natutuwa ako kasi sobrang different ng The Clash from other singing competition. Iba yung concept nila. Mayroon silang chance na ipakita talaga yung husay nila in singing.”
Meanwhile, Christian pointed out that to win his vote, the contestants must choose the right piece and render it properly.
“And of course, in terms of performance, they have to connect with us—the TV audience to make us feel their song,” he said.
With Regine as host, Andre Paras and Joyce Pring as the ones who will give updates on the aspirants’ quest to emerge as champion, with the superb line-up of judges, and with Louie Ocampo as the director, “The Clash” will surely be an exciting journey, not only for the contestants but to its audience as well.
Catch “The Clash” every Saturday and Sunday night!
