Buybust's new trailer reveals plot

- By Joice C. Cudis

EVER since that video of Anne Curtis jogging with the special forces, and acing that Pekiti-Tirsia Kali sport with her trainor leaked on the web, everyone just cannot wait to see how the movie they call Buybust will roll out.

And as most of us presumed that it would be a picture of Duterte's war on drugs telling how its bloodshed has horrified Filipinos and turning their faith on security forces around as they feel fear more than peace seeing them hunting by the streets. But as the production released a longer and more revealing trailer, the movie actually foreshadows how violent a place may actually be when the illegal drug trade gets out of hand, yes not only to civilians but to the officers as well.

Anne Curtis who plays the role of anti-narcotics special operative Nina Manigan, is eager to go head-to-head with the drug cartels that hold a bloody grip on Manila just after escaping her brush with death surviving the slaughter of her entire squad in a drug-raid engineered by rogue cops.

But when her new mission in the city’s most dangerous slum goes south, the angry civilians turn on her squad. Trapped between a brutal drug gang and hordes of bloodthirsty citizens, their only option is to fight their way out, turning one claustrophobic street at a time into a symphony of apocalyptic violence.

BuyBust will be at the New York Asian Film Festival on July 15th, have its Canadian Premiere in Montreal at Fantasia on July 18th then will be in Comicon as part of the 21st Annuel Superhero Kung Fu Extravaganza panel on Thursday, July 19th.
