TOWN PLAZA RISING
UrbanEast brings newest Davao experience
THE landscape along C.P Garcia National Highway, corner Ma-aand Magtuod Roads, Davao City will never be the same once the master-planned premium commercial development will be realized – the Town Plaza at Monteritz. The future landmark to be developed by homegrown developer UrbanEast Developments Inc. had its groundbreaking ceremony last June 11. It’s the developer’s first venture on the commercial building development.
The one hectare master-planned premium commercial development designed by Visionarch is eyed to be Davao’s newest major landmark with nearly 260 meters of direct frontage in one of Davao’s busiest intersections and fastest growing districts.
UrbanEast president Edward Bernardo said the project, with an estimated cost of P1 billion, will offer Dabawenyos a new kind of experience.
“When this mall opens, we will welcome the general public to Davao’s newest experience, I am very proud to the team behind this project. When this opens in late 2019, my company together with its tenants and locators would have invested over P1 billion in this unique development,” he said.
He added the unique pocket/community strip mall will be characterized by a functioning clock tower and feature a diverse mix of key tenants thus giving Dabawenyos and tourists another experience.
The development’s first long-term anchor tenant is McDonald’s (Golden Arches Development Corp.).
“Our tenants will be a mix of local, national, and international brands, a lot of people in Manila are actually coming here next week to see the property, and our consultants say it is a good sign. Most of our tenants are Manilabased companies, this is what we really targeted, to draw big foot traffic,” he said.
However, Bernardo emphasized that the building will also feature homegrown companies like Annipie to add value to the place.
The development also boasts of ample parking spaces, driveways, wide pedestrian walkways, pet zone, al fresco dining areas, green spaces, roof top gardens, instrammable selfie posts, event and function spaces, public transport waiting bays, service areas for tenants, multiple public rest rooms, grand marquees and lighted pylons, blowup signages, backup power supply, PWD-friendly facilities and a 24/7 security.
The realization of the project, Bernardo said, is the culmination of the legacy begun by his father, Engineer Rodolfo Bernardo, Jr., when the latter developed the 45-hectare property of Monteritz and envisioned it to be Davao’s premier address,
“The Town Plaza is the crown jewel of this very special property where we are today and I would like to pay tribute to my dad, a visionary,” the younger Bernardo said.
Meanwhile, Davao City Vice Mayor Bernard Al-Ag, who attended the groundbreaking ceremony, said UrbanEeast has played a vital role in developing Davao City as an economic hub through building quality residential developments.
“In behalf of the city government of Davao, I would like to congratulate Urbaneast Developments for being our partner in developing Davao City. In the past 13 years, malaki po ang naitulong ng Urbaneast sa pag-develop ng City and giving us a quality residential development and now with the latest commercial development,” the vice mayor said.
“With this commercial development, I am sure that this (the Town Plaza at Monteritz) will be an icon in Davao City,” AlAg added.
Bernardo also said that this project is his gift to the city and the Dabawenyos who have been very supportive to UrbanEast for the past 13 years.
The Town Plaza, the president said, is just the beginning of the new direction taken by the company – building more commercial developments around the city while strengthening its residential components.
