Coastal bypass soon to reach Sta.Ana Pier

THE next phase of the multi-billion Davao City Coastal Bypass Road connecting Times Beach to Sta. Ana Pier area is expected to commence this month.

In an interview yesterday with Department of Public Works and Highways 11 regional director Allan S. Borromeo, he said a budget of P3 billion was allocated for the 2.6 kilometer coastal road to be constructed in 2018 will connect the

2017 project in Bago Aplaya going to Times Beach after the project has been awarded to a contractor.

The coastal road, which will run from Matina Aplaya to Sta. Ana Pier, is expected to be completed by 2022 with P19 billion budget in total for the whole project.

Borromeo assured that they will do their best to expedite the construction of the coastal road to meet the deadline in addressing the traffic problem in the city’s southern part area.

“We will do our best to finish this because the traffic in Davao City has become a problem and the coastal road is a big help to curb this,” he said.

Knowing that there are residents who will be affected with this development, he said that the affected families were properly compensated.

Borromeo said the coastal road has four lanes measuring 26 meters with bicycle lane and sidewalk. An esplanade, located at Bago Aplaya and Gulf View, will also rise this year with a budget of P300 million.

He assured cyclists who will use the bicycle lane with four meters is safe and wide enough for the bikers to pass through to avoid road accidents.
