-

A FORMER government official in Maguindanao province is facing charges before the Sandiganbayan after she failed to file her Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) for two years.

The Office of the Ombudsman in Mindanao (OMB-Min) found probable cause to charge the Shariff Saydona Mustapha town Mayor Bai Zandria Ampatuan for four counts for violation of the Republic Act 6713, otherwise known as The Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.

Records revealed that Ampatuan failed to file her SALN from 2009 to 2011, including her entry SALN upon assuming office as acting mayor in 2009.

Under the Republic Act 6713, public officials and employees have an obligation to accomplish and submit declaration under oath of, and the public has the right to know, their assets, liabilities, net worth and financial/business interests.
