Gov. Uy lauds partnership with CVPPO-PNP

COMPOSTELA Valley Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy lauded the Compostela Valley Police Provincial Office (CVPPO) in their efforts to maintain peace and order in the province resulting to a significant dropped in crime volume for the second quarter of 2018.

"I want to thank PNP for their consistent partnership with the provincial government. They have always shown dedication to their duty and committed law enforcement. Their partnership with the initiatives of the provincial government truly helped us in our aspiration for lasting peace in our province," said Gov. Uy.

The latest report from the CVPPO revealed Comval’s crime volume, composed of index crime and non index crime, dropped from 211 incidents on 2017 to 140 incidents on 2018 with a percentage value of 33.65%. The report was given during the regular Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) meeting on July 4 at the Social Hall, Provincial Capitol.

Index crime involves the crime against persons such as murder, homicide, physical injury and rape. Also, crimes against prop- erty such as robbery, theft, carnapping/carjacking and cattle rustling.

Based on the data presented, Comval has an index crime of 79 for the second quarter of 2018. A decreased of 22.55% from last year’s 102.

On the other hand, non index crime refers to the violations of special laws such as illegal logging, illegal drugs, traffic codes and other local ordinances.

From 109 non index crime in 2017, it reduced to 61 or 44.04% dropped in 2018.

In his statement, PSSUPT Roderico A. Roy believes that the road towards peace and progress is possible with the support of various sectors.

“The PNP continues to be committed in raising the quality of life of every Filipino; we want every constituent to achieve their full potential by providing them sustainable peace and order, one that is free from the perils of criminality and lawlessness,” he added.

Furthermore, Comval continues to show support to their peace endeavor as the Municipal Mayors and chiefs of police signed Memorandum Of Agreement on the implementation of Community and Service-Oriented Policing system on July 5.

"There should be intense collaboration among local government units, the National Police Commission, and our communities to ensure that our police force remain committed to their duty to execute community-oriented policing at all times," said the young governor. (Sheldane Mahinay, ID ComVal)
